This was sent to me on sppl forums:
Hey Guys Its Berger from OTP Saints THIS IS LONG BUT READ IT ALL!! PLEASE!! Awesome news guys, there is over 20 teams interested in doing this event. I wanted to get everyone on the same page so here is all the info as far as what everyone needs to do as for now. For starters in order to have the SPPL be an official qualifier we must have 10 committed teams minimum who are willing to put down a deposit of 250$ by the end of march. The reason being is that they attempted to have a qualifier last year in NY and only 5 teams showed up and the event tanked. There was a huge loss of money and with the economy being the way it is the paintball industry is hurting. Sponsors are being tight with prizes they give to leagues and leagues only wanna do the guaranteed money making events. If they dont they will end up like the SPPL. My team was one of the teams in NY and we fell in love with this event. Therefore we are spear heading the campaign to keep this event on the east. If I get 10 committed teams with money in hand Jayson of the SPPL will announce the event officially for AUGUST 7-9 @ OTP. If you are interested in this event and want to make sure it stays on the east as an OFFICIAL Qualifier then please send an Official Bank Check made out to SPPL in the amount of 250$ to me. I am acting as a mediator right now between the SPPL and the east coast teams. Once I get the 10 checks for 250$ each (NOT PERSONAL CHECKS AND NOT MADE OUT TO ME!!!) I will mail them into Jayson and he will post the event on SPPL's website so the event can be seen by all teams. Here is the Official Website for SPPL:
http://www.playsppl.com/ You can find out anything you need to know about SPPL on here as well as join forums and talk to other SPPL players from around the states. I will give you a basic description of the event in the following paragraph.... The field is set up in a equilateral triangle with two teams starting in oppsite corners. At the corner both teams start at is a flag station. On the 3rd angle, which is the same distance away from both teams, is a swing base with a flag. At the whistle blow you will pull the flag at your base and fight for the swing base flag. For every minute you control a flag you get a point. If you control your flag and the swing flag you get 2 pts per minute, etc... You can also kill the entire opposing team and take their flag lol. On the field during game play is 3 cases. Each case has a prop. If you find the case and bring it back to your commander( the only one who can open them) you get I think like 20 points if I remember correctly. The cases hold a rocket, a claymore which is a auto turret, and a respawn card. The rocket can be thrown or shot out of a law launcher and it kills opposing team members up to 18 feet away. It must be shot at a bunker not a player or the groun they are running through. It must hit natural or man made bunker to count. The auto turret can be placed anywhere you desire and kill any players (yes including your own guys) for a certain time limit I think 5 minutes. It is a prop but the refs will pull any players that get within a certain footage of the prop. The respawn card gets a certain amount of your players out of the dead box at any point in the game by handing in the card. The matches are 1hr long (may change if we have more teams so we can get through everyone in one weekend) and the hr is broken into 2 half hour halves. Both teams have a chance to start on both sides of the field. Every ten minutes there is a spawn where any dead players in your box can get on the field up to ten total. Game starts at 9:00 5 of your guys die by 9:08 at 9:10 they all respawn. At 9:20 there is another and at 9:30 the round ends and you switch sides. The 2nd half is the same. Your points add up from game to game and the team with the most points wins, everyone plays everyone. The total registration is 500 per team. The teams are 10 man and you can have two alternates. Its still 500 if you have the 2 alternates, on a personal note I suggest if you have the extra two guys to bring em and have em ready. They can be in the dead zone with you during a match and switch out with your starting ten at any point in the round. You just cant have more then 10 on the field at a time and they cannot fill pods for the players who are starting. Bring your pods to the dead zone filled with extras waiting for you. There is 10 minutes exactly between the 2 half hour halves. They start the round with or without either team or both teams lol. They bring in SPPL branded paint and it sold for 55 a box at the event I did. Best paint I ever shot, hoepfully its the same stuff for this year. They have it specially made (shell, fuill, branding) Every player who has never done SPPL before must purchase an ID card on the website. It is a one time 35 dollar fee that you never have to pay again unless you lose it which I think replacement is 10 dollars. Every team who has never competed in SPPL must start in the 5 Man Beginner or Rookie or Masters division. If you competed in any qualifier last year you are eligible for Elite Division. ***A few teams have requested that smart corps factory team come and play against us. We are working on that but we dont know if its a possiblity. The SPPL league has added a pro division so that those teams that are on a professional level dont play teams who are not at the same skill level. Also if as many teams expressing interest actually end up attending this event we wont have time for everyone to play them, since it wont count for anything in the tournament. We will see what we can do #######FINALLY I NEED TEN OF YOU TEAMS TO PAY 250$ BY THE END OF MARCH. IT IS 25$ A PLAYER SO THIS SHOULD BE DOABLE FOR AT LEAST TEN TEAMS OUT OF 20+. IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY CONTACT INFO FOR THE FOLLOWING TEAMS PLEASE GET ME THEIR EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBER; FAILURE TO FLATLINE, NYOC, DELCON, STC, DELTA PAINTBALL, SOD ---THEY EXPRESSED INTEREST BUT I CANT GET THEM THIS INFO Thanks Guys (especially if your still reading after my long windedness lol), Bill "Sake" BergerOTP Saints Co-Captain
